Steph and I are 6 months into being Chattanoogans and small business owners, and I have lost track of the number of times we’ve talked about how happy we are to be in this spot. Right here. Right now. There are things we miss about Nashville, but it is amazing to see the minutes and hours we've reclaimed in our days by taking cues from the community around us. We spend more time outside biking, walking, or reading than we have in years. It feels contagious when there are so many other people being intentional about being outside and enjoying life. As a result, we spend less time binging tv, scrolling our phones, and overthinking things. It’s refreshing to learn to let go of some of the expectations I held of myself. I accomplish more from a place of rest rather than a place of exhaustion.
We were unaware of how desperately we needed this change of pace. It has re-awakened us to the joy of simplicity. We may not have everything we want, but we have everything we need, and for that we are grateful. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to step into the simplicity of Chattanooga. Grab a blanket or hammock and find a spot to slow down. It doesn’t have to be at one of the many great parks in or around Chattanooga; it can be in your backyard. Grab a cup of coffee and walk around the neighborhood or put your feet up and read that book you’ve been meaning to start. Do something mildly or wildly out of your routine. Be right here, right now, in this beautiful city that has everything you need.
Thank you, Chattanooga, for creating a community we are proud to be a part of. We look forward to spreading the joy!
